On Tuesday, the Foothill Technology softball team beat Cate School 13-0 at Ventura College.
In the afternoon’s domination, freshman Jazmine Razo pitched a shutout, meaning the opposing team was unable to score any points. Cate School couldn’t score a single run off of Razo.
Coach Priscilla Rouse-Becker said the game “was perfect through the top of the fourth inning.”
Razo had eight strikeouts and let two players from Cate walk, meaning that they never hit, but were allowed to walk to the base. Nevertheless, she had two hits and two runs batted in, meaning her hits resulted in safe runs.
Rouse-Becker believes freshman Ashley Larroude “led the team” with three hits including a double, three runs and two runs batted in.
“The team continues to do well getting on the board early. That is a strong point for us. We need to be better at maintaining our momentum throughout the game,” said Rouse-Becker.
The Dragons now hold an overall team record of 7-4 overall, meaning they have won seven games, but lost four. This means their record in the Frontier League is now 3-1.
“It is fun watching girls who have been working hard to become better players perform well in the game,” Rouse-Becker said. “For some girls, hard work is paying off.”
