Jennifer Eggersten teaches Math. After college, she went backpacking in Europe for three months solo after her friend bailed on her. “Best experience of my life. Met many people from all over the world, some I still keep in contact with, fell in love with an Englishman and got mugged in Edinburgh,” Eggertsen replied. Before she became a teacher, she was a structural civil engineer and dreamed of one day building a bridge.

Brooke Schmitt teaches English. Schmitt survived being bitten by a rattlesnake! In high school she was a three sport varsity athlete for soccer, volleyball and softball. She played division one college softball on a full ride scholarship at San Diego State University and in her junior year her team came in twelfth place in the nation. During quarantine, she harvested a wild turkey with her bow. “I trimmed and vacuum sealed the legs and breasts - they’re in the freezer. Made a stock out of the carcass - sent some feathers to a friend to tie flies for fly fishing - keeping some feathers for arrow fletching - making jewelry out of the spurs and claws - made two turkey calls out of the wing bones - making a display piece out of the tail fan and the beard,” Schmitt said.
