Best of Cafeteria Food
The second the bell rings, it’s off to the races and straight to the cafeteria line for many at Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech). Students conglomerate into an unorganized line, pushing through crowds to enter the sacred threshold of Spirito Hall.
At first glance, it’s hard to believe that school cafeteria food could inspire such urgency, but plenty of Foothill Tech students would argue the wait is worthwhile. “My favorite meals are definitely the orange chicken and the tamales…The wet burritos are really good too,” Ella Miller ‘27 said.
This year, the cafeteria rolled out a brand new addition to the menu: a make-your-own sandwich bar. Students can pick out what breads, meats, toppings and condiments they would like and a volunteer assembles it for them. And violà, you have a homemade, Jersey Mikes-adjacent sandwich — you don’t even have to leave campus or spend your life savings to buy it!
Beyond lunch, the cafeteria also delivers when it comes to the breakfast/nutrition options. Everyday staples like the yogurt cups, bagels, cereal cups and even the pizza sticks (because who wouldn’t want pizza before first period) make the mornings a bit more manageable for many sleep-deprived students. The rotating foods, like the Eggstavaganza breakfast burrito, are crowd pleasers. The newest addition to the 2025 school menu, the acai bowl with granola, has quickly become the undeniable fan favorite.
With rotating meals, consistent popular items and yearly additions, the Foothill Tech cafeteria has built a menu that most students genuinely enjoy and even look forward to.

Best of Events
This year, the Associated Student Body (ASB) has thrown several exciting on-campus events, including a “Twilight” inspired Renaissance Rally and Halloween dance, but many students simply can’t forget the “Under the Moonlight” Winter Formal, held at The Majestic Ventura Theater on Dec. 6.
Dragons were allowed to invite students from around the Ventura Unified School District to socialize and enjoy a night of dancing and unforgettable moments. Throughout the venue, students were found enjoying music chosen by the DJ, as well as a song performed by Dylan Arevalo, also known as “Lil Pickle.” They participated in games and various other activities, savoring refreshments and treats provided for them.
Those present at this entertaining event appreciated the time and effort ASB put into making it a special night, as their commitment was visible in every detail. This dance was a great addition to Foothill Tech’s holiday season and only elevated the “Chasing the Stars” theme of the school year as students made memories that would last a lifetime.

Best of New Additions
As with every year, the new school year is a time of new beginnings. With new schedules, classes and routines, students are challenged to adapt quickly and change previous habits. Along with students, teachers face plenty of new experiences too. From new names and accommodations to personalities, teachers learn about their students, challenged to remember many details.
One new teacher who has stepped into particularly big shoes is Stephanie Harper-Recine, who rose to the challenge to fill the role of the new ASB advisor and AP Literature and AP Psychology teacher. Despite the fact that she’s learning the rules as the game proceeds, Harper Recine has taken on these new roles with great determination and enthusiasm.
The Athletics Rally is one major event that has begun under the combined leadership of Harper Recine and the new Athletics Director, Jason Dinkler, previously an English teacher and running coach at Foothill Tech. These rallies typically take place in the quad and include the athletes breaking through a banner, receiving individual team shoutouts and competing in a fun activity like musical chairs.
