Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) has launched its first advice podcast. After gathering input from students, three topics emerged as the most requested: sports, school life and navigating loneliness. These themes reflect experiences shared across grade levels. The podcast aims to show Foothill Tech students that common challenges can bring the community together rather than divide it.

Every summer, residents of Ventura, Calif., always have one event to look forward to: the Ventura County Fair. Drawing thousands of visitors each year, the annual event serves as a place to have fun as a community. From its classic fried foods and sweet treats to live entertainment and thrilling carnival rides, the fair offers attractions for guests of all ages. Returning in summer 2026, the Ventura County Fair will feature new policies, updated attractions and expanded events while continuing to showcase the familiar favorites that have made it a longstanding local tradition for decades.

The reconstruction of solar panels is taking place in Foothill Technology High School's (Foothill Tech) back parking lot. This construction is due to residential complaints that the solar panels line the back of the school, blocking their view. The construction has caused many complications for students, including, struggling to get to class on time and insufficient parking availability. The construction is set to take about six weeks to complete.

On the evening of May 26, Foothill Technology High School's (Foothill Tech) Class of 2026 gathered at the A.W. McConnell Auditorium of Buena High School for Senior Awards Night. The senior class was presented with a plethora of scholarships and honors, ranging from academic to athletic. Recipients walked the stage to be recognized for their achievements, with a backdrop set up for photos. As names were called one by one, applause filled the auditorium, celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2026.

Nearly a decade after the original release of Subnautica on PC in December 2014, Subnautica 2 was announced on Oct. 17, 2024. The game’s sequel featured a long-awaited four-player online co-op mode, in addition to a new planet to explore, a new engine that allows for more dynamic lighting and environment building, a new base-building system and new unique character enhancements. Subnautica 2 was released for early access May 14, 2026, on PC and the Xbox Series X|S and will continue to remain in development until an official 1.0 release is announced.

Throughout a student’s career at school, they’ll have done hundreds of tests, exams and quizzes, all for the sole purpose of evaluating their proficiency with the topics in their class. But is this really the best way to accurately measure skill? A student’s grade in class relies greatly on a few exams spaced throughout the school year, but these tests don’t take into account the many other factors that go into producing a successful student. Things like critical thinking, problem-solving and creativity are hard to quantify in exact numbers or grades, but these skills are often what shape someone to truly succeed in and out of school.

Bees: the world’s most effective and important pollinator on every continent except Antarctica. While we have come to take these little insects for granted, they play a vital role in sustainable farming and are a driving force for the majority of the world’s food supply. Bees are also appreciated for their honey, which is used in anything from soothing sore throats to managing chronic diseases. However, despite their contributions to our planet and wellbeing, bees are under threat from pesticides, habitat loss, climate change and parasites. As a way to recognize these incredible workers, Slovenia proposed May 20 as World Bee Day in December 2017 to the United Nations. The day was accepted, and the first World Bee Day, recognized by the United Nations, was celebrated on May 20, 2018. On this day, organizations such as the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) hold special events to encourage others to protect bees through strengthening protections for pollinators. This celebration also includes activities like planting pollinator-friendly flowers, supporting local beekeepers and even an event in Geneva on May 27 at the Palais des Nations dedicated to honey tasting and information on bees.

They haunt Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) from the roofs. They squawk at any motion. They stalk the halls, looking for any scraps of food they can find. And they're never alone... These are the suck gulls of Foothill Tech. Who can blame them, though? Who can blame them when the largest buffet they know is in the Foothill Dragon's quad?

The internet can be a dangerous place for children if it is not monitored properly, and the popular gaming platform known as Roblox is one example of this growing concern. With over 100 million daily users, Roblox can become a treacherous online space for everyone without effective oversight. With less-than-ideal moderation systems, the platform has increasingly become a space where children are exposed to adult themes and unsafe players.

For billions of years, animals across all species have evolved a wide range of physical, behavioral and vocal traits to more effectively attract mates. Humans are no exception. The “performative male,” sometimes called a “matcha male,” is a term popularized on social media in 2025 to describe men who present themselves as progressive, emotionally sensitive and feminist. These displays are often undertaken in hopes of attracting women, though critics argue that the behavior can lack genuine engagement with the values being promoted.
