Summer has come to an end as students find themselves back in the classroom for the start of the 2023-2024 school year. New teachers and new policies give the year a powerful start while students are attempting to adapt to the changes.

The 2023-2024 school year started off strong with a Hollywood theme and a few changes around campus. Friday, Sept. 1 is Staffulty Fun Day, where Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) staff will be celebrated. A sophomore connection event will be hosted Friday, Sept. 8 and Club Rush falls on the following Friday, Sept. 15. The current sports that are in play are girls’ volleyball, boys’ water polo, girls’ golf and girls’ tennis. Although this year has been a slow start, keep an eye out for coverage on the boys’ water polo game against Buena High School (Buena) as well as a girls’ volleyball recap. Make sure to check out articles like Ventura County’s HighTide robotics team wins the World Championship, AI and its impact on the way we learn and Reclaiming the past: Taylor Swift releases “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)”. Coming up, here are articles to keep an eye out for: not only a review of the blockbuster Barbie, but of Oppenheimer, as well as a recap on Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour. Plus, an opinion article on Foothill Tech’s new cell phone and earbud policy and features on the new teachers here, Rosa Vorba, Naiyma Houston and Norma Garcia. That’s all for now, thank you for tuning into this episode of the FDP-TV!
