On March 14, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) baseball team stepped up to their home field to compete against Trinity Classical Academy (Trinity) in their eighth game of the season. The matchup proved to be close, with impressive runs coming from both teams throughout the game. However, the Dragons ultimately held the offensive edge, taking down a 5–4 victory in extra innings.
Coming off a 1-19 blowout loss to Calabasas High School (Calabasas) just two days earlier, the Dragons entered the first inning focused on shifting momentum. Unfortunately, this would be easier said than done, with Foothill Tech allowing three of Trinity’s runners to make it home and cement an early 0-3 lead to begin the match.

The second inning proved more promising for the Dragons. Shane White ’26 quickly recorded three outs at the top of the inning. Foothill Tech got on the board soon after when Andy Campa ’27 stole home while Rainen Tolentino ’26 was at the plate, cutting Trinity’s lead to 1-3.
White commented on his performance on the mound, “Going into it, we knew we needed to compete … our pitching was strong, so we were able to hold them to not many runs … our coach says we need to do the little things right, and in the end we did them right.”
Moving into the third, Foothill Tech would build off its momentum from the previous inning, with Cooper Casey ‘27 making it home after a deep hit into the outfield from teammate Robert Juker ‘26 to take the score to 2-3.
The top of the fourth highlighted the strength of the Dragons’ outfield, refusing to allow Trinity to fill up bases and convert runs. Tolentino secured a run home to tie up the match 3-3.

After an uneventful fifth inning, Trinity would be able to capitalize on a dinger that slid through Foothill Tech’s midfield to bring home another runner after three consecutive scoreless innings, 3-4.
The Dragons responded in the bottom of the sixth when a ball was drilled deep down the right field line to reach base. Tolentino followed with another deep hit into Trinity’s outfield, allowing the runner to score, tying the game 4–4.
The seventh inning went scoreless, forcing the game into extra innings with both teams exhausted.
Drayden Belitski ’26 relieved White on the mound in the eighth inning, where neither team was able to generate any scoring opportunities. However, in the bottom of the ninth, Tolentino sent a ball deep into the outfield to reach first base. Grant Ready ’26 entered as a pinch runner and was able to make it home, securing a 5–4 victory for the Dragons.
“I thought everyone did really good, a bunch of people were really solid and consistent doing their job,” Ready said.
Foothill Tech will compete next against Cate School (Cate) on March 16, where they hope to continue their positive momentum from this match-up.
