On the evening of Thursday, Feb. 26, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys volleyball team faced Del Sol High School (Del Sol) in their first home match of the season in the Cabrillo Middle School gym. The Dragons played well as they took the victory in three sets.

“I felt like our energy was really good today. Sometimes it’s hard when you’re winning big to keep the energy high, but the guys did a good job today,” head coach David Benedik said.
Foothill Tech started off strong as they had three strong kills to start off the game, giving them a 3-0 lead. Del Sol fought back with a block; however, they were unable to score and served the ball out of bounds. The Dragons quickly gained momentum, gaining a 9-1 lead, and soon after, Del Sol called a timeout. With a combined strong front row, the Dragons were able to put pressure on Del Sol and continue to get kills. The set ended with a score of 25-11 for the Dragons.

The second set started with the Dragons serving, and they quickly scored a point. A kill by Styles Haley Kettler ‘28 and multiple aces by Zach Ohl ‘28 brought the Dragons’ lead to 6-1. The Dragons continuously dominated the second set, with most of Del Sol’s points coming from Foothill Tech’s errors. Senior Curren Wiggins ‘26 ended the set with a kill and a score of 25-9.
The third set looked more promising for Del Sol as they began the set with a 1-3 lead on the Dragons. This quickly changed as both teams had errors and were tied at a score of 5-5. The match went back and forth between the teams, so with the score at 12-11, Del Sol called a timeout. Del Sol could not keep up, and the Dragons were able to keep a steady lead the rest of the game, winning the final set with a score of 25-20.
“We felt really comfortable on the court. We trust each other, and it showed with our good kills and digs,” Curren Wiggins ‘26 said.
The Dragons will face Oaks Christian on March 3, 2026.
