Beginning to expand your closet doesn’t always have to be expensive. Especially when you have a whole world of secondhand fashion at your footsteps.

Sunny, picturesque Main Street in downtown Ventura is known for its cozy, ambient restaurants, the iconic Cinemark movie theater, one-of-a-kind tourist boutiques and the plethora of thrift stores frequented by stylish shoppers. It’s no secret that Foothill Technology High School’s (Foothill Tech) fashion enthusiasts take a liking to these thrift stores because of the affordable prices and the mass varieties of clothing offered by each.

For anyone new to the thrifting scene, it can be hard to find a good place to start. Here, at East Main Street’s SPARC Second Chance Store, we provide tips for beginning thrifters who aim to build their own style through secondhand clothing.

We’ve included an interview from store associate Frida Casillas, who gives insight on what SPARC is about and how they benefit the community by using gathered funds from their secondhand merchandise. Shoppers that visit this location often may not know of the ways they assist those in need, and a wonderful way to give back to the community is by lending a hand to local organizations in any way possible. We thank SPARC for giving us the chance to film in their store and for a great interview.
