On March 4, 2023, the Girl Up club finished off the final behind-the-scenes stages of their book drive. After working diligently to collect around 1075 books, the club members gathered at Co-President Claire Hadley’s ‘24 house to pack up the donations. “It was no easy task,” Hadley states, “We had to go every Friday and collect all the books from all the places and all the schools.” From there, the books were sent to the center of the Girl Up Foundation in New Orleans, where they will later be shipped to Malawi to build a library under the African Library Project.
“The Girl Up Club is really uplifting and an educational community” expresses Piper Singleton ‘24. The Girl Up club continues to “…work towards helping girls in impoverished countries get education, and complete education” explained Co- President Zoe Balanca, as well as empower their own members here at Foothill Technology High School.
