Spirito Hall came alive as seniors gathered for their annual Thanksgiving Potluck Friday. Each student brought a dish to share, creating a plethora of food and good times.

The Associated Student Body (ASB) usually provides desserts, but because of the senior budget deficit, “this year there was no money allocated towards this event,” so “the kids have to bring everything,” Melanie “Captain” Lindsey, ASB advisor said.

Although there was no scavenger hunt as planned, students entertained themselves by tossing balloons from table to table. A poster was also laid out where students could write about what they are thankful for.

Senior Nathalie Hendrix enjoyed “eating and getting to hang out with friends in a setting you don’t normally get.”

However, she believes the main purpose of the night “was to get together as a Class of 2016 and bond.”

The potluck tradition was created five years ago by Trevor Kirby and this year was hosted by senior class officers Sydney Hoover, Bailey Liljekvist, and Emily Marostica.

Hoover thought that the event was successful. “A lot more people came than I was expecting and everyone kind of participated and brought their share of food so I thought it went really well,” she said.

She felt “like everyone was having a good time together.”

“As long as the kids want to keep doing it I’m happy to chaperone it,” Lindsey said.
