The 2025-26 season for Foothill Technology High School’s (Foothill Tech) track and field team achieved fantastic results, with school records being broken by Christian Bondy ‘26 and multiple other Dragons. Multiple competitors from the team and advanced to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).

Foothill Technology High School’s (Foothill Tech) 2025-26 spring track and field season highlighted competitive feats in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) postseason, along with broken personal and school-wide records. 

The boys 4x800m team, which consisted of Andres Hernandez ‘26, Jaden Prillhart ‘26, Baker Carlisle ‘26 and Asher Field ‘28, earned the title as CIF Southern Section Division Four champion, running a combined time of 8:05.25. Not only did they take gold at CIF Finals, but they also shattered the school record of this event, set in 2017, by eight seconds.

In girls high jump, Bennett Rodman ‘26 took gold and the title of Southern Section Division Four Champion after she jumped a height of 5-02.00. Rodman later broke her own personal and school record in the CIF Masters meet after she jumped a height of 5-04.00.

Keera Wallace ‘26 earned the runner-up spot in both 1600-meter and 3200-meter events as she ran times of 5:07.66 and 11:31.65. 

Throughout the season, the Dragons shattered multiple school records made by athletes such as Christian Bondy ‘26, Asher Bayless ‘26, Elijah Spencer ‘26, Amelia Gerk ‘26 and Viggo Bortolin ‘27 in a stellar season.

Sports retrospective: a Foothill Tech 2025-26 athletics in review
Foothill Technology High School’s (Foothill Tech) girls volleyball team had a remarkable 2025-26 season with an overall score of 17-10 and 7-1 in the Tri-Valley league. With incredible and continuous improvement, the team has made a remarkable turn around from the 2024-25 season, even going so far as taking large steps in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).

The Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys golf team had a great 2025-26 season. They ended with a record of 3-3 in League, and 5-5 overall. Sebastian Huovinen ‘27 competed as first team at CIF, accompanied by Ben Markov '27, who competed as second team. Huovinen is seen preparing to drive the ball, with the intention of attaining the lowest score at the end of the match.

Throughout the 2025-26 school year, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) girls basketball team performed extremely well, ending in 3rd place with a record of 4-4 in the Tri-Valley League. The Dragons made it all the way to round three of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Playoffs. By the end of the season, they had an overall game record of 12-11.

The Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) baseball team did well in the 2025-26 season, placing 2nd in the Tri-Valley league with a record of 6-2. They had an over all record of 16-13 and they made it to the third round of California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) in the Southern Section. The team demonstrated tenacity and perseverance throughout the season.

The Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) softball team placed 4th in the Tri-Valley league with a record of 2-6. Although they had an overall record of 10-10, they unfortunately didn't qualify for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).

The Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys basketball team had a good season over the 2025-26 school year. The Dragons finished their season 3rd with a score of 5-3 in the Tri-Valley League. They made it to the first round of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Playoffs, but ultimately lost to Carter High School, ending their season.

The Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boy's soccer team played well throughout the 2025-26 school year. They placed 3rd in the Tri-Valley league with a record of 2-5-1 and an overall record of 4-13-1. The dragons ended up making it to the second round of California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) in the Southern Section, but failed to progress due to an intense game against Fairmont Preparatory Academy.

The Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) girls soccer team performed well in the 2025-26 school year. They had a record of 4-5-1 and placed 4th in the Tri-Valley league, attaining an overall record of 5-9-1. Despite their efforts, they were unable to qualify for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).

Throughout the 2025-26 season, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys volleyball team had a great season, and played excellently. They finished the Tri-Valley league with a record of 7 wins and 3 losses. Along with this, they had a overall record of 16-9. The team also made history whilst winning the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Division 7 Championship, marking the first time in the program that the team had achieved victory.

Throughout the season, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) girls golf team remained a daring opponent in the 2025-26 school year. Six Dragons qualified for the Individual California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Playoffs and the team won the Ventura Cup. The Dragons went to CIF as a team, but ultimately lost in the first round.

Foothill Tech's girls water polo team had a stellar season, finishing tenth in the Division 5 California Interscholastic Federaton (CIF) Southern Section. At the end of the season, the Dragons ended with an overall record of 11-6 and finished second in the Tri-Valley league with a record of 4-2.

Track and field takes on CIF Southern Section Finals
On Friday, May 1, 2026, Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) participated in the Tri-Valley League Finals. Beau Anderson ‘28 runs in front of his two teammates, Miguel Hernandez ‘28 and Andrew Hanjoyo ‘28, in the boys Frosh/Soph 1600-meter run. Anderson finished in 4:58.20, placing first in his event.
Track and field wraps up the regular season at League Finals
The 2024 to 2025 season for Foothill Technology High School's (Foothill Tech) track and field team went incredibly well, with numerous athletes qualifying for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Finals, which took place at Moorpark High School on May 17, 2025. Even those who did not qualify for this event did exceptionally well, with countless Foothill Tech students achieving their personal bests in their respective events, notably with Connor Bursek '25, who beat his personal best at the 300-meter hurdle race and by doing so beat Foothill Tech's record that he already held.

On May 10, 2025 the best of Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) track and field athletes, of those that qualified at the Tri-Valley League Championships the week prior, gathered together at Carpinteria High School to face off against their competing division four athletes. From here the athletes battled off to qualify for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Finals, which took place at Moorpark High School on May 17, 2025.
Speed, Strength, and Surprises: Track and field power through CIF Prelims and Finals
On May 2, 2025 Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) faced off against their in-town rivals at the Ventura College Track. The teams raced in the Tri-Valley League Championships where the schools Saint Bonaventure High School, Cate High School and Bishop Garcia Diego High School were all present. Foothill Tech students raced in a wide variety of events ranging from 100 meter sprints to 3200 meter run to their multiple relays. Many of Foothill athletes reached for their goal of qualifying for California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Prelims which will be held on May 10, 2025.
