On Tuesday, March 3, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) girls softball team stepped onto the diamond to face off against Fillmore High School (Fillmore) for their fourth game of the season. The Dragons would face little resistance throughout the game, ultimately being able to secure a 6-4 win, which brought their record to 3-1 for the ‘26 season.

The first inning saw the Dragons find their stride almost immediately, with an impressive four runs coming from Kyra Bouchard ‘27, Lilliana Gonzalez ‘28, Jocelyn Morales ‘28 and Luciana Franco ‘29, as Foothill Tech capitalized early at the plate to build a quick lead.
Mackenzie Warren ‘29 on the pitcher’s mound for Foothill Tech also assisted early in fending off Fillmore, with the Flashes going scoreless through the first two innings of play.
Warren commented on the team’s performance and some of the training that goes into taking a win, “I started out a little rough and then once I got through it, I started throwing a lot stronger … We mainly do fielding and then I go and pitch a bullpen with another catcher.”

After a slowed-down second inning, with Bouchard securing another run, the Dragons stood at 5–0 entering the third. In the third inning, Fillmore finally gained some ground, stringing together a few solid hits deep into the outfield to get their first players across home plate, bringing the score to 5–2.
Entering the fourth, the Dragons hoped to expand on their lead but would be met by some resistance from Fillmore’s outfield. They’d close the inning out, only securing one run from Zoey Watkins ‘26 to take the score to 6-2.
With the dragons maintaining a solid lead over Fillmore throughout most of the game, the fifth inning would partly shift the momentum of the match. The Flashes went on a two-run streak to put them within striking distance as they went into the final inning.

However, the Dragons would be able to fend off Fillmore’s best efforts at a comeback with neither team managing to bring any runners home, closing out the game 6-4.
“I think we did pretty good, I’m honestly really proud of Lily, Kyra and just everybody out there. Kyra did really good at getting catches in the outfield, and Lily was really good in the infield,” Joyce Touma ‘28 said.
The Dragons’ next game will be against San Marcos High School (San Marcos) on March 5, where they hope to continue their momentum to take home another win.
