After a slim loss in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) championship match, Foothill Tech’s girls’ volleyball team was ready to bounce back in the first round of the CIF State Tournament. Matched up against Malibu High School, the team that defeated them in CIF playoffs last year, the Dragons sought revenge. And revenge they got.

Foothill dominated the Sharks 3-0 in a match that lasted just over an hour. With set scores of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-12, the Dragons will be moving on to the second round of the State Tournament.

Morgan Gallagher ‘18 said, “we were definitely excited to play Malibu. We didn’t deserve to lose the game last year and we wanted to give them a taste of their own medicine.”

“It’s hard to choose just one player who stood out, everyone has contributed so much and we have all pushed each other to grow into the players we are now,” she continued. “The massive improvement that this team has shown and the amount of teamwork and dedication was a reward in it of itself.”

Foothill will take on Pacific Northridge in the second round on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 18.

“We are ready for round two,” Gallagher said. “The question is, is round two ready for us?”
