Photo Essay: Foothill Tech Baseball advances in CIF playoffs with a win against El Monte

Foothill Technology High School’s (Foothill Tech) boys baseball team earned a 3–1 victory over El Monte High School in the first round of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section playoffs on May 16, 2025. The Dragons set the tone early and maintained steady control throughout the game showcasing their defense and consistent energy on the field. Foothill Tech held firm to secure the win. The result marks an important step in the Dragons postseason journey as they look to build on the momentum heading into the second round that takes place on May 21, 2025 against Estancia.

On March 1, 2025, Foothill Technology Highschool (Foothill Tech) faced off versus Saint Monica Preparatory (St. Monica) in their first home game of the season. Shane White grips (number 10) his bat and digs into the left batters box in hopes of getting on base and extending their lead. After a strong game, the Dragons swept the competition 4-0.

Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) baseball placed first in the Frontier league with an undefeated record of 6-0 and an overall record of 14-12-1. Team captains, Adam Arth ‘24 and Russell Brown ‘24, led the team to round one in California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) division seven playoffs.

The sun was beaming and the winds were soaring on Thursday, Oct. 9, when Foothill Tech’s girls varsity tennis team took to Ventura College’s courts with two goals: to slam down their opponents from St. Bonaventure High School and to celebrate their senior players. Team captain Saanvi Joshi ‘26, Violet Polley ‘26, Aarna Khanavkar ‘26 and Diana Hixon ‘26 were honored through creative posters handmade by fellow teammates, while friends and family gathered to witness one of the last matches of their high school tennis careers. Girls tennis honor their seniors with a tie-breaker win
Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) celebrates its five seniors on senior night, an event highlighting the team's last home game of the season. The seniors pictured above are Samantha Jacobson ‘26 (number 1), Rylie Hannah ‘26 (number 3), Emily Turner ‘26 (number 4), Lilac Reyes ‘26 (number 6), and Fiona Aulenta ‘26 (number 13). The game started on the night of Oct. 7, 2025, with Foothill Tech playing Santa Clara High School (Santa Clara) and winning 3-0. The team's next match is on Oct. 9, 2025, against Thatcher High School (Thatcher).
Foothill Tech ends the regular season with an emotional senior night
On Oct. 4, 2025, in Ventura, Calif., residents gathered for Project Love Ventura’s annual community service day. Participants spread out across 26 project sites, focusing on cleaning beaches, painting fences, landscaping and supporting local churches and organizations. Organized by Project Love Ventura co-founder Sarah Abrams, the event united volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs in a shared effort to care for their city.

On the afternoon of Oct. 2, 2025, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) Dragons faced off against Cate School (Cate) Rams at the Ventura Aquatic Center in an intense game with both sides showing tremendous effort, eventually ending in a 14-3 loss for the Dragons. Pictured is Connor Morris '27 (number 2) trying to score on Cate's strong defense. Morris proved to be a valuable member of the team, showing consistent effort throughout his first game of the season after coming back from a shoulder injury.

On the night of Oct. 3, 2025, Buena High School (Buena) and Ventura High School (Ventura) clashed in their annual rivalry game under the lights. Both teams battled with intensity and pride, but Ventura’s dominant performance on both sides of the ball led to a decisive 62-13 victory, continuing their strong season and school tradition. Therapy animals offer stress relief, improve moods and provide comfort to enhance emotional well-being in diverse settings.

On the rainy night of Jan. 17, 2024, Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys' basketball takes on Grace Brethren High School (Grace Brethren) in a defensive 54-43 win. The top scorers of the game were two sophomores, Nick Drucker '26 (number 5) and Elijah Spencer '26 (number 42). Drucker had 16 points, three of which were 3-pointers. Spencer had 10 points, most of which were scored from the paint. On the defensive side, Luigirey Guce '25 (number 1) had multiple steals, leading to fast breaks that got the Dragons easy lay-ups. Although they scored only 21 points in the first half, Foothill Tech pushed past their slow start, ending the game with 22 points in the fourth quarter. Their next game is on Jan. 19, 2024, against Villanova Preparatory High School (Villanova).

The Horror In The Stacks event took place at the E.P. Foster Library. The second floor was covered with black paper restricting all light sources and converted into a haunted maze. With a total of six zones to go through, the maze also had craft stations at the end to bring some peace after going through it all.
