On March 4, 2025, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) baseball team secured a 6-2 victory against San Marino High School (San Marino) in a well-fought battle. The competition was relatively even with strong defense throughout the game on both sides until an offensive massacre in the sixth inning which ultimately allowed the Dragons to secure a win.
The game started with a scoreless top of the first inning, with Foothill Tech’s defense shutting down San Marino’s early efforts. In the bottom half of the inning, the Dragons saw some offensive action when Aiden Gomez ‘25 doubled to right field. However, San Marino was able to prevent further base hits, keeping the score at 0-0.

Foothill Tech continued to hold firm defensively in the second inning. Catcher Davin Arth ‘27 made a crucial putout, while second baseman Tyler Wolowicz ‘25 turned a routine grounder into an out. In the bottom of the second, the Dragons put runners on base with singles from Cain Ebrahim ‘28 and Rainen Tolentino ‘26, but they were unable to capitalize.
The Dragons broke through in the third inning when Robert (Juju) Juker ‘26 hit a single to drive in Cooper Casey ‘27, putting Foothill Tech ahead 1-0.
After a scoreless fourth inning, San Marino threatened in the fifth with a walk and a sacrifice bunt advancing a runner to scoring position. However, the Dragons’ defense held strong, preventing a run from scoring.
San Marino found a way onto the scoreboard in the sixth inning, capitalizing on a single and an error to tie the game 1-1. However, Foothill Tech wasted no time responding. Tolentino doubled to center field, driving in Jacory Smith ‘27 to regain the lead. Shane White ‘26 followed up with a single, bringing in another run to extend the lead to 3-1. With continued pressure, the Dragons took advantage of an error by San Marino to add even more insurance runs, heading into the final inning up 6-1.
White stated, “In my first couple of at bats, I didn’t do as well as I wanted but in my last at bat I got an RBI single which put us ahead.”

In the top of the seventh, San Marino attempted a late comeback. A double brought in a run to make it 6-2, but the Dragons quickly shut the door. Drayden Belitski ‘26 closed out the game, forcing a popout to end the contest with a 6-2 win.
Coach Sam Campa praised his team’s performance, saying, “Our defense was excellent … they shut down the other team and really showed up today.” Head Coach Mike Haas added to Campa’s statement, stating, “Bats are coming along much better than last year and we are a force to be reckoned with.”
With another solid win, the Dragons continue to build momentum as they look ahead to their next match up against Malibu High School (Malibu) on March 6.
