On Friday, the Foothill boys’ basketball team trekked over two hours to play La Sierra Academy in the second round of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Division VI playoffs.
While there, they defeated the Knights with a score of 72-41, marking their seventh straight win. This brings them to the CIF quarter finals, which will be a face off between the Foothill Dragons and the Vasquez Mustangs, and will take place on Tuesday at home.
Head Coach Dean Prophet thinks the Dragons “got off to a good start,” leading 23-6 in the first quarter.
His team “got into some early foul trouble, so we went deep into the bench,” Prophet said. Despite the challenges that come with a high number of fouls, Prophet thinks this helped the team to play as one. He described the game as “a good team effort by all.”
By playing together, with “high energy” and “good focus and defense,” the Dragons overcame the struggles of playing an away game.
In the next round, “we are looking forward to a home game,” Prophet said. “We love playing in front of our supporters that come to our games.”
