The Villanova Preparatory School Wildcats defeated the Dragons last Thursday, bringing the team’s overall record to 4-1 and a League record of 1-1.
All three singles players, junior CJ Haberbush, sophomore Peter Jesperson, and junior Gabriel Linnehan, each won one of their three sets. Their winning set scores were 6-0, 6-3, and 6-0, respectively.
Doubles players, juniors Dominic DuMont and Noah Colby, swept all three of their sets against the Wildcats with scores of 6-0, 6-0, and 6-1.
Senior Austin Gama and freshman Kaylan Ouerbacker won one of their sets as a doubles team and sophomores Martin Gama and Jayden Carlson lost all three of their sets.
According to Coach Brad McClain, “number one doubles team” DuMont and Colby “played terrific.”
However, McClain believes that the team’s main focus should be on improving serving.
“We still need to serve better. As a team, we serve below average,” he said. “Too many free points from double faults. We’ll keep working at it.”
