School district to explain budget cuts at public forum

Anaika Miller

With the threat of an additional $6.5 million cut looming over Ventura Unified, the school district has scheduled a budget forum for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m in Balboa Middle School’s cafeteria.

The forum, which is open to the community, will address the possible effects proposed state budget reductions could have on local education programs.

Ventura Unified has already cut $18.5 million from its budget in the past three years, meaning that it now spends roughly $1,900 less per student than it did then.
