On Thursday afternoon, the Foothill girls’ tennis team defeated the St. Bonaventure Seraphs 17-1 in a league match at their home court, Ventura College.
All three singles players, sophomore Enkela Qoshlli, freshman Erin Gaynor, and Junior Laina Feath, “swept their matches,” according to Coach Brad McClain.
This is the sixth time this year that every one of the Dragons’ singles players has completed a “complete sweep” of all nine matches in a single game.
Qoshlli said that she and her team had some great rallies.
“It was good, we had a couple of good rallies,” said Qoshlli. “However, there wasn’t really a challenge to overcome today and I think we were able to pull off a win fairly easily.”
In doubles, sophomore Katlyn Urick and senior Nina Urban lost their first match, but went on to win the next two matches, pulling off a win for Foothill. For the eighth time this year, sisters sophomore Sherlyn and junior Summer Kouvilay won all three of their sets. Senior Karina Cole and junior Emma Kolesnick went on to sweep their doubles matches as well.
The Dragons’ record is now 9-1 overall, 6-1 in league. The next match will be league play at home against Bishop Diego High School on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m.
