The Foothill girls’ varsity volleyball team was defeated by Calabasas High School on home ground. The team played three sets, with a final score of 0-3 and individual sets of 10-25, 23-15, and 15-25.
Coach Chip Tarleton thought that the team struggled because they were down a few players.
“We were shorthanded due to injuries and players gone in one position, so we had a few people playing out of position,” said Tarleton.
However, Tarleton also believed that despite the challenges of the game, “they played with a lot of tenacity.”
“They competed very hard even with the extraordinary challenges they had” said Tarleton.
Sophomore and varsity player Heather Ellison thought that the team “fought hard” and limited their errors throughout the game.
“Our team did very well on staying together throughout the match. We also limited [our] serving and hitting errors and that helped us out a lot,” said Ellison.
Ellison believed that the team will continue to improve because they are a “very young team, so [they] will be playing together for a long time.”
Tarleton thought that the team is improving and needs to continue to compete through the challenges of the game.
“Just to keep competing no matter what. They are maturing and growing stronger together. They are starting to learn how to win,” said Tarleton.
