Joel Mayorga is a second-year illustrator for the Foothill Dragon Press and the editor of the Illustrations section. Currently a senior, he is taking difficult classes and looking into attending a UC. Along with the rest of his rigorous schedule, Joel competes in Speech and Debate, is president of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) club and partakes in Youth and Government, a YMCA program that allows high school students to in a model government. As a native Spanish speaker, he understands and is interested in studying the relationship between language and culture; after high school, Joel hopes to major in linguistics as well as Latin American studies. This year, Joel integrated the weekly political cartoons for the Foothill Dragon Press and designed the new and improved logo. He is glad to leave his mark during his last year on staff.
