Starting this year, Foothill will extend its school day to end at 3 p.m. instead of 2:55 p.m. On block schedule days, the extra five minutes will be added to Foothill’s 10 minute break, which will now be 15 minutes long. The additional five minute passing period that follows break will be maintained.

Bova is satisfied with these changes because break was “always so short.”

“There has been some concern about how short our break is,” he said. “It didn’t allow time for students or staff to take care of things.”

The Monday school day will now end at 2:05 p.m. instead of 2 p.m., and will also have one minute added to lunch as well as to each class period, making them 49 minutes instead of 48.
