The sounds of rushing water, children laughing, and lifeguard blowing whistles all fill the vicinity of the Ventura Aquatic Center on a typical Ventura weather day.
“I love working here. It’s a great place to gain leadership roles,” energetically exclaims lifeguard Jessica Malach, who has been working at VAC for over one year. “It’s a great place for people to come and relax and cool off from the sun.”
Ventura Aquatic Center attracts people of all ages from all across the country. It offers a unique water park, three swimming pools, and two waterslides.
As a community based facility, people can participate in a variety of programs such as swim lessons, aerobics class, diving, water polo, and even synchronized swimming.
Also, a well-trained staff of lifeguards is always on the watch for any trouble or help needed.
“We have had many rescues, but we have saved every one of our victims in each situation,” says head lifeguard Kelly Macmillin.
Not only is the Ventura Aquatic Center a safe haven for simmers and non-swimmers alike, but it is also a great place to have fun.
