Foothill’s boys’ basketball team played against Fillmore High School on Wednesday and were crushed with a final score of 75-47.
Coach Dean Prophet believes that the start of the game was a struggle, but they were able to get their heads straight before the end of the first half.
“We had a very slow start but we caught up in the second quarter,” said Prophet.
Prophet does believe that the team’s playing quality went back down in the second half because of a height advantage from the opposing team. This made it more difficult to make shots.
“We had a very bad third quarter, and could not get a shot to drop. We shot very poorly tonight against a taller zone defense,” he said.
The leading scorers of the games were senior Nick Vaughan who scored 20 points, sophomore Dale Starr who scored 13 points, and junior Michael Booth who scored five points.
In league, the team has had two wins and eight losses. Overall the team has had two wins and 11 losses.
The team’s next game is Friday at Ventura College gym against Cate School, which will also be the team’s Senior night where graduating players are recognized.
