Today Santa Paula High School defeated the girls’ varsity volleyball team. They played five sets with a final score of 1-3 and individual set scores of 20-25, 25-23, 27-29, and 12-25.
Coach Chip Tarleton feels the team is continuously improving, and believes they are beginning to show more of what they learned at practice by putting it into their performance.
“There were signs that the players were understanding the benefits of using their training to be successful,” said Tarleton.
Tarleton still feels the team needs to work on being able to “play hard” throughout the game.
“We are still struggling with playing consistently for entire sets and matches,” he said.
Tarleton believes that a change in mindset is what would serve the team best.
“Most of them need to decide that the way they are and have been doing things is not working and make the choice to be a little uncomfortable while they actually do try to do things the way we’ve been asking them to do,” said Tarleton.
The team has two wins and eight losses in Frontier League, and an overall record of three wins and nine losses.
