Starting their coverage days in advance of the December 7 event, sophomore journalists Rachel Crane, Katie Elvin and Chrissy Springer tweeted, photographed, interviewed, videotaped and observed all aspects of “Every 15 Minutes” for The Foothill Dragon Press. They were given full access to all stages of the event, from preparation of the actors, to rides in ambulances, to the court house and the student overnight in the campus Black Box.

Rachel Crane
Rachel Crane, a member of the Class of 2013, is fifteen years old and an Arts & Entertainment staff writer for The Foothill Dragon Press. This is her first year in journalism, and she hopes to learn a lot about writing and reporting. In this academic year, Rachel is challenging herself with more vigorous honors courses. She has recently developed a love for chemistry, and is excited to continue with the science classes that Foothill has to offer. Rachel has dreams of one day being accepted to a top tier college but is unsure about her future career path. She also has dreams of travelling the world, and hopes to visit countries such as Greece, Italy, France, and Australia. Rachel has a huge passion for music, and enjoys playing the piano, singing, and is currently learning how to play the acoustic guitar. Her favorite music genres are rock and indie. She enjoys spending her free time with her friends, riding her bike, going to the beach, and reading sappy Nicholas Sparks novels. She also enjoys reading the works of John Steinbeck, Harper Lee, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Sarah Dessen.
Katie Elvin
Katie Elvin, Class of 2013, is a first year member of The Foothill Dragon Press and writes for the Opinion section. She plays on Buena High School’s varsity girls tennis team and volunteers for Project Understanding, aspiring to become a special education teacher in her later years. Reading is one of her favorite things to do and she likes most of what she reads. In 5th grade Katie moved from Carlsbad ( San Diego), her home of 7 years, to Ventura. Katie has lived in two different homes in Ventura and loves her current butter yellow house more than any other she has lived in. Her brother, Andy, is almost twenty and is a sophomore at UC Santa Cruz; Katie misses him dearly so she decided to pretend that he never left and is just a little bit quieter this year. Katie enjoys, and hates, challenges and loves learning new things. Katie hopes that this year holds many great surprises and experiences for everyone.
Chrissy Springer
Chrissy Springer, Class of 2013, is an Arts & Entertainment writer for The Foothill Dragon Press. She has a natural vehemence for music and musical theatre and aspires to begin a career in the arts. Singing, acting, and playing guitar are all passions of Chrissy’s, as well as writing and performing her own original music. Much of her free time is spent nurturing her unhealthy addiction to Facebook or rereading romance novels. She also has a strong passion for scuba diving and hopes to one day dive the Great Barrier Reef. Chrissy hopes to attend college at New York University, majoring in either Musical or Technical Theatre with a minor in Journalism or English. One day, she will most definitely move to New York City and live life on the edge.
