The girls’ tennis team beat Villanova Preparatory School today for the second time this season with a score of 11-7 in matches.
Sophomore Anna-Kate Levesque, senior Lea Menesklou, and freshman Enkela Qoshilli, singles players, all prevented their opponents from scoring in their final matches with a score of 6-0. Menesklou “swept,” or won, all three of her sets.
Though satisfied with the win, coach Brad McClain was unhappy with a “lack of intensity” from his players.
“[In] too many matches, we got behind early,” said McClain. “Some we survived and some we didn’t.”
Five different matches went to tiebreakers, meaning the players had to win seven games, rather than the regulation six, in order to win that set. Foothill won two of the five tiebreakers.
Coach McClain feels that improvements need to be made in how the girls play.
“We need to clean up the way we manage ourselves on the court,” he said.
The tennis team has ten victories and two losses overall this season, with nine wins and one loss in league matches.
The final home match of the season will take place this Thursday at Ventura College against Thacher High School.
