The Foothill girls’ tennis team captured another victory against Santa Paula High School today with a final score of 11-7. The girls played on their home courts at the Ventura College.
The girls’ tennis team now has five wins and two losses overall, with four wins and one loss in their league.
The match was close at first. The Dragons were 3-3 with Santa Paula after the first round and tied in all games. Then the Foothill girls took the lead in the next two rounds, leaving the score at 4-2.
The singles players sophomore Anna-Kate Levesque, junior Lea Menesklou, and freshman Enkela Qoshlli won all of their sets, gaining the nine available points. Qoshlli didn’t let her opponents score a single point.
Coach Brad McClain believes the team still needs improvement in doubles play.
The first and second doubles teams “came up with big wins versus Santa Paula’s number three team,” said McClain.
Foothill’s number two doubles team, sophomore Emma Kolesnik and freshman Sherlyn Khouvilay, “clinched the match,” according to McClain, giving Foothill their tenth point in the last round.
