Girls’ basketball competed against five teams over the course of last week in the John Burroughs Tournament. Ultimately the team triumphed with five wins and one loss and came in third place. Their winning scores were 65-53, 63-40, 60-23, 72-52. Their sole loss was 39-54 against Brentwood High School.
Starting with improvements, Coach Jason Edgmond believes that the team needs to improve on how they start off their games.
“One thing that can be improved is how we start in the first quarter, we got off to a slow in most of those games but really came alive in the [second] quarter,” said Edgmond.
Though he believes this was caused by slight nervousness and can be solved on a personal level.
“The team will fix this on their own. It was most of the girls’ first high school tournament and we seemed a little anxious to start,” said Edgmond.
Edgmond feels that the team plays very well and shares the ball when playing.
“The girls play extremely hard and are very unselfish and that is what I want from the team,” said Edgmond.
Overall, Edgmond believes that the most exciting parts of this tournament were the wins and what they mean to the team.
“The most exciting thing was starting the season with a win,” said Edgmond.
