Age: 16
Grade: Junior
Running For: ASB Vice President
If you were elected what would be your top priority?
Bigler: In general, I want to serve how I would want to be served and represent all students with — this sounds really cliché — but just with more fun. [I want to] bring more enthusiasm into ASB and leadership at school; I want to make events more ongoing.
Why did you choose to run for this position?
Bigler: To be honest, I was kind of going back and forth a while, but I have always loved to be a leader and to be in charge. I am really organized. I want to work with the whole school not just with my friends or people in my grade. This position really puts you on a pedestal… and I think I would set a good example for the school. Foothill is a great high school, and right now I am in a good position to represent it.
What previous ASB experience do you have?
Bigler: I was the Vice President in seventh grade at Ventura County Christian School. It’s a very small school, and we were pretty much all on our own for ASB, so that taught me a bunch. This year I am the Renaissance Rally Assistant Director.
Why do you want to hold this position?
Bigler: I don’t want to do this to be the face of ASB or to be labeled or, believe it or not, for college apps. I really want to represent Foothill and, once again, I am just in a good place to do that.
I came into Foothill after being home schooled in eigth grade. I was nervous and I had no friends. I was shy because I really didn’t put myself out there. I know a lot of students can relate to that and where I have been. Now I am an upperclassman and I’m social.
I haven’t had a lot of authority in ASB yet, so I am pretty anxious to be a role model and work with people in and out of the ASB staff. I plan to bring a friendly, loving and welcoming environment to campus and I think now is a good time for me to take on a big position and serve with pride and humanity.
