Siena Meter ‘26 has made a great impact so far at Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) by participating in both the DTech Capstone Academy (DTech) and the Associated Student Body (ASB). She is well known to the students and faculty at Foothill Tech for always having a smile on her face and being willing to help anyone in need. In addition to being a member of DTech and the ASB junior class vice president, Meter has been a team member on the girls varsity soccer team for the last three years. Aside from her academic effort, Meter’s bright smile can light up people’s day whether it is on the soccer field, in the classroom or when you see her in the halls.
Meter started her soccer career when she was seven years old. She began playing for the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), and after discovering her love and talent for soccer, she joined a club team. Meter mentioned that her dad has always loved soccer and has been a huge influence on her, often working as a team as he has coached her for both AYSO and her club team. You will also see Meter’s dad, James Meter, on the field at Foothill Tech as he has been the JV soccer coach for the last few years.
One of Meter’s highlights of playing soccer is as a valuable member of the Foothill Tech Varsity girls soccer team. “Being on a team, especially at your own high school is a really great way to connect with people and get to know the school better … I always look at soccer as a distraction from the outside world and as a place where I can work together with people and become a better athlete and person,” Meter said. She plans to continue her soccer career throughout her remaining time in high school, as she has loved playing on the Foothill Tech team for the last three years.
Besides her athletic endeavors, Meter is also an active member of Foothill Tech’s student body. She applied to ASB her freshman year and was soon after accepted. She joined ASB with the mindset of just giving it a try and keeping opportunities open to join other clubs. However, after deciding give the program her best effort, she began to love the community and was happy to have applied. Meter has worked her way up to be selected as the Junior Class Vice President, and prior to this position, she was the Renaissance Friday Director and she assisted with various rallies.
“I just love being able to get the privilege to plan events and being able to take charge. I love being able to get student input and I want to hear the opinions of students and how they like the events and what is more popular at school,” Meter shared. She prides herself on helping the school community and making student life at Foothill Tech more engaging and fun each day. This year is her first year being able to help plan Prom, and she is very excited to do that. She feels like she has truly found her spot in the program and really enjoys it.
Meter has proven to be very talented and well-rounded, and she is dedicated to improving herself and the people around her. “I am so grateful for the opportunities that I have received at Foothill [Tech] and will continue to carry on the skills I have been taught throughout my life,” Meter said. Something she wishes she could tell the incoming freshmen is, “to get involved with the school as much as you can and strive for your best.” Next time you see Meter in the halls, ask her about an upcoming soccer game, give her some ideas of your favorite Prom themes or just say hello, and you will see her amazing smile.
