Athlete of the week: Ashlyn Mullin

Ashlyn Mullin ’24 receives the first Athlete of the Week for her phenomenal 2023 volleyball season, and her leadership as team captain. The Foothill Technology High School community appreciates all her hard work in representing the school.

As the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) girls’ volleyball season came to a close, the season highlighted Foothill Tech’s top female outside hitter, Ashlyn Mullin ‘24. Mullin has been playing the sport of volleyball for nine years, showing her dedication and making her a true veteran on the court.

As a senior, the 2023 season marks her last season with Foothill Tech. Mullin spoke emotionally about what she enjoyed in her final season. “ … The relationships that I had with all my teammates made practice and games more fun.” She also enjoyed fun moments with the team off the court such as team dinners and team bonding activities.

Reflecting on the season, one of her best games occurred on Sep. 28, 2023 where the Dragons faced St. Bonaventure High School in a tight matchup, Foothill Tech lost 2-3. On the positive side, Mullin had a great game, as she now reflects on her performance, “I feel like I just had a lot of digs.”

Another notable performance by Mullin occurred on Sep. 14, 2021 where Foothill Tech matched up against Cate High School. Mullin recorded an impressive 17 kills.

As the season ended, Mullin and the rest of the senior class packed their volleyball shoes away for good as they enjoyed their last moments with their loving team of Foothill Tech volleyball players, remembering the memories and never forgetting the spirit of the Dragon.

For the fall season, the cafe is decked out with seasonal decorations, and the aromas of pumpkin spice and cinnamon fill the shop. These four seasonal flavors at Lovewell can be served in a variety of ways, as they can be implemented into chai, matcha, lattes and more.

With rich, sweet flavors, this pizookie was perfect to begin the fall season. As autumn advances, BJ’s is now serving a seasonal Cinnamon Roll Pizookie.

With an influx of canceled scores, the College Board decided to shift many Advanced Placement (AP) Exams to either hybrid or completely digital tests in May 2025. With 16 AP exams going digital and 12 becoming hybrid, the College Board hopes to combat academic dishonesty.

As of May 2025, 12 Advanced Placement (AP) tests will be transitioned from the standard paper testing to a hybrid format. Coordinated by College Board, this shift will combine aspects of both methods of testing. The Advanced Placement (AP) tests of May 2024 suffered an increase in test score cancellations, particularly those due to academic dishonesty. Consequently, College Board has decided to transition 16 AP tests from the typical standard testing to a fully digital format. Classes on Foothill Technology’s (Foothill Tech) campus affected by this change are AP Psychology, AP Environmental Science, AP United States Government and Politics, AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition.

The Mountain Fire ignited in the Somis area on Nov. 6, 2024. First responders rush to the scene as the fire blazes across Santa Paula causing mandatory evacuation orders. Just hours later, the fire was headed towards the Santa Clara River and over the South Mountains outside of Somis.
