Students at Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) and around the world are taking on the challenge of racing for the few seats available in classrooms of top-notch colleges and universities. In many of these students minds, merely failing a quiz at school can bring thought sequences of, “I’ll get a bad grade in the class, I won’t get into the college I want, I won’t get a good job and I’ll be a total failure.” (Denizet-Lewis) While a strive for this type of success can be beneficial to a degree, taking on a surplus of activities and classes can put students physical, emotional, and mental health at risk.
