The varsity boys’ soccer season concluded after they were defeated in their CIF wild card game against Milken High School on Wednesday. The final score of the away game was 0-3.
Coach Andreas Wedderein said that it was a very physical game “that was dominated by cheap fouls from the Milken players.”
Foothill’s players also experienced “constant hitting and verbal abuse” from the Milken team.
Coach Wedderien believed senior Justin Redemann led by example once again and fought “a tough battle,” along with juniors Andres Coronel and Cristian Rodriguez, sophomore Aidan Wedderien, and freshman Mateo Carrillo.
“Overall the Dragons did well in a season they were mainly playing against older, more experienced players. They look forward to next season, when the age difference should not play such a big role,” said Coach Wedderien.
He looks to the next season with optimism.
“Next year will be better. The players will grow another year, they know what will be expected of them,” said Coach Wedderien.
The Dragons made it to the CIF wildcard game, meeting Coach Wedderien’s goal. Next year he plans to “raise the bar.”
“The boys learned the harder, [more] complex style of football that will help them succeed in their respectable careers in college or beyond,” he said.
