The girls’ basketball team crushed Grace Brethren by 21 points at the Ventura College gym on Tuesday, with a final score of 41-20.
Coach Jason Edgmond believes to improve their game, the girls’ need to work on their offense to make sure they make “open” shots.
“We need to work on finishing shots around the hoop,” said Edgmond.
Edgmond believes that the team did very well in their defense, and did not allow Grace Brethren to make easy shots.
“We defended really well, Grace did not score a point in the first quarter and only four [points] in the first half,” he said.
Edgmond believes that the best play of the game was a three point shot by freshman Miranda Torres, which nearly fell out of the net but fell back in.
The leading scorers of the game were juniors Sienna Romero, with 12 points, and Becca Negrette and Lexi Woodward, both with seven points .
In league, the team has had eight wins and two losses. Overall, the team has had 11 wins and five losses.
The team’s next game is Thursday, against Cate School.
