On Monday night, the Foothill boys’ basketball team competed against Grace Brethren School and lost by four points. The final score of the game was 57-53.
Coach Dean Prophet believes that the game was close in score the entire game, but that Foothill needed to be able to hold their lead.
“It was a close game the entire 32 minutes. We could not hold the lead, and missed a few lay-ups at the end of the game. In the end, we had to foul to stop [the] clock. They did hit good free throws,” said Prophet.
Prophet understands that the loss for Foothill was difficult. Prophet believes this was because they could not complete their plays or keep up their defense in the fourth quarter.
“It was a tough loss, the boys played hard, like they always do, we just could not get defensive stops at the end and make plays ourselves,” he said.
The leading scorers of the game were senior Nick Vaughan, with 29 points and three assists, sophomore Dale Starr, with seven points and six rebounds, and juniors Michael Booth and Colin Valance, with five points each.
In league, the team has a record of two wins and seven losses, and an overall record of two wins and ten losses.
The team’s next game is on Wednesday at Fillmore High School.
