The Foothill boys’ basketball team experienced their first win this season against Villanova Preparatory School on Wednesday, beating them by two points with a final score of 48-46. This first league win has put Foothill in first place in the Frontier League.
Coach Dean Prophet believes that although the team won, there is still room for improvement.
“[We] still need to improve on team defense and [our] overall shooting ability,” said Prophet.
Prophet did see an increase in skill in how the team worked together as a unit, and is proud of both the team’s win and improvement.
“We played together as a team tonight, [and had] a great team victory,” he said.
The top scorers throughout the game were senior Nick Vaughan, scoring 16 points, sophomore Dale Starr, scoring 13 points, and sophomore Tyler Ragan-Sutton, scoring 10 points.
The boys’ basketball team has had one win and zero losses in the Frontier League, and has had one win and two losses overall.
The next varsity boys basketball game is at Ventura College Monday, Jan. 12, against Malibu High School.
