The boys’ tennis team defeated the Hueneme Vikings 14-4 on Wednesday at home court, bumping their overall record to three wins and one loss this season.
Singles players junior CJ Haberbush and sophomore Peter Jesperson swept all three of their sets, and freshman Kaylan Ouerbacker won two of his sets.
Doubles players juniors Dominic DuMont and Noah Colby swept all three of their sets 6-0, and senior Austin Gama and junior Gabriel Linnehan also won all of their sets 6-0, 7-6, and 6-4. Sophomores Jayden Carlson and Martin Gama lost their sets 1-6, 4-6, and 2-6.
According to Coach Brad McClain, “our doubles play needs improvement.”
“We have to volley better if we are to be successful in doubles,” he said.
“That doesn’t mean my guys aren’t working hard. We just need to improve,” McClain continued.
The team will play their first league match next week.
“We are looking forward to meeting Santa Clara next Wednesday to open league play,” McClain said.
