The Foothill varsity boys’ water polo team competed against Malibu High School today, losing with a final score of 18-4.
In the first quarter of the game, freshman and field player Andres Coppa got the first possession of the ball and scored, giving Foothill a 1-0 lead.
During the third quarter of the game, Foothill played even with Malibu, with a tied score of 3-3. According to Coach David Wallace, “[Foothill’s] defense was aggressive,” which helped them keep Malibu from scoring.
However, in the final quarter, Malibu overpowered Foothill and scored 15 more goals.
“We need to work on attacking a drop defense,” Wallace said.
For playing the highest placed team in Foothill’s division, division VI, Wallace said that “the boys played well.”
Sophomore Kevin Waechter hopes the team scores more goals and wins the game against Villanova.
Wallace looks forward to see the team play Villanova Preparatory High School tomorrow.
