CAMERON KARBUM
My name is Cameron Karbum and I am a junior at FTHS and live in Ventura with my small family of four. I am an above 4.0 student and have been in ASB for a year now. When not doing school work I spend my free time rock climbing in Malibu and Santa Barbra or just hanging out with friends. A leadership role is something I encounter on a daily basis. Having a younger brother in middle school I am constantly correcting my mistakes in hope that he does not encounter the same issues and help him to keep his moral compass pointing to the true north. I try to reflect this behavior in school as a member of ASB as I believe this is an extremely important quality to have especially when taking up a position such as Vice President. My greatest thing I have done in terms of my educational achievements is being a student at FTHS. Yet not only being a student but being a student that cares about his grades like most students at this school I strive to be the best me I can be. My most recent educational achievement was memorizing the AP US History fact patterns in two nights and getting 100%. We all know how tedious fact patterns can be. Aside from my academic participation in this school what I really want to talk about is my actual participation as a member of ASB. My current job in ASB was not productive at all. I really had no say in the class or anything that happened and I know if I am given the chance to be elected into a more important position I can for surely make a difference. My goals as Vice President would be to tear down the walls between ASB and the student population. Hearing from multiple people that ASB is for the smart preppy kids I want to eliminate that opinion and show that ASB is for everyone. I want this wall torn down so that ASB and the student population can be closer and feel united. This bringing together of ASB and students will allow ASB to plan and create more events and activities in hope to get more involvement ad sense of belonging at school. I feel I qualify for this position because I don’t associate myself with a group. I don’t call myself a nerd or a jock, I see myself as a normal kid with my own great sense of individuality. I feel lots of kids at FTHS see themselves as special and individual and I want to bring all those individuals together with their own talents in hope to create something great.

Platform Statement:
I was accepted into Foothill just one week before school started and I was not too keen on becoming a dragon. It took me a while to get used to things, new things are hard to get used to… but then I found my role: Helping others. I have come to realize how much of a chance it has to change a persons life. I want to help others find the good in themselves like previous ASB students have done for me. I would like to see Foothill become more of a community that will be embraced by its students, so every person feels like they belong to something. I believe that everybody has a unique quality in them and that we all have a moral obligation to let that part of themselves show. So I want to make it easier to for people to let that part out. I want ASB to be more open minded to the students opinions and see a broader spectrum for how they can help better the school. I will help ensure that my fellow ASB classmates are working diligently to involve our students and appeal to their interests. I will make sure I do everything in my power to make sure Foothill will be the best school it can be. Please support me and give me your vote so I can be the leader that I am. I promise you will not regret it.
