If you’re in the mood for donuts, do not head over to Rolling Pin unless you’re ready to be disappointed. Allegedly their donuts are said to be “better than Krispy Kreme,” but this was far from the truth.
The first fault may have just been because I’m not familiar with the streets of Camarillo, but the actual place was extremely hard to find. This detracted from the overall experience.
Upon arrival, the exterior looked less than inviting. It could be characterized as a small shack next to a car repair shop. When it finally came time to order the workers were not helpful and a bit rude. This most likely isn’t true for all the workers there and it may have just been an off day for the cashier. All in all their service was less than desirable.
It was my first time there, so I had no idea what donuts the place offered. When I asked the cashier for help picking out the donuts, he seemed clueless and wasn’t able to give me an answer. I had also asked him to let me know when I was going over $10, which he failed to do, and resulted with him having to put a donut back.
The damper of the night was when rolling pin wouldn’t sell us donuts sos

I ordered two of their most popular donuts, the buttermilk bar and the “cronut,” which is a hybrid of a croissant and a donut. Seeing as they were some of their bestsellers, I had high hopes.
The buttermilk bar tasted really good, but was way too dense. This bar wasn’t very long but I could barely finish half of it. The “cronut” was a different story. It was very light and crumbly. I can deal with messiness if the taste makes up for it, but the “cronut” tasted bland and was lackluster.
If you’re in the mood for donuts, you’d have a better time going somewhere here in Ventura, like Master’s Donuts.
