Foothill students gathered in the quad Thursday to celebrate their academic achievements from the past quarter. Students with a 3.0 GPA from last year’s second semester and students who raised their GPA by .5 were eligible to participate in the rally, an event that included lunch catered by Milanos and free t-shirts.
The theme of this semester’s rally was “Welcome to the Castle.” Students participated in a number of activities during an extended lunch period.
“I like how unifying it is,” senior and Associated Student Body’s president Riki Schmitt said. “Because if you think about it, it is a chance for everyone to stay on campus.”
The sound of water echoed across the quad as students hit targets that sent teachers into the dunk tank. Administrators jousted students, and students hopped on a jolly jump while attempting to stick on a Velcro wall.
“My favorite part about this is the Velcro wall and the dunk tank too,” sophomore Mallory McPherson said.
Students were also able to have their face painted by Foothill’s National Art Honor Society.
“I really like the watching the kids get so excited about this event and in the future seeing more kids on Renaissance,” ASB advisor and biotechnology teacher Darcy Perez said.
