Grace Carey is a junior at Foothill and a first-year photographer for the Dragon Press. Grace was originally born in New York City but moved to Ventura after a few years. Since Grace was in the first grade, she has been a member of Girl Scouts and is currently working towards her Gold Award, the highest Girl Scout award which requires 80 hours of working on a service project that creates a lasting impression on the community. Grace has three loving dogs that she adopted from the Humane Society. When Grace is not juggling AP classes, she enjoys running cross country for Foothill in the fall and distance track in the spring time. Her passions include photography, science and the outdoors. Grace hopes to take a year off at some point in her life to explore and travel the world. Her passion for science has led Grace to participate in the Bioscience Academy. Another activity Grace does outside of school is hiking; she particularly enjoys hiking and backpacking with her dad on the weekend. Grace has a love for any type of potato and is also an avid chocolate eater. In her free time, Grace enjoys picking up one of her many favorite novels to read and relax. Grace did not only join journalism for the photography aspect but also because she is a strong believer in spreading the truth so that the people are aware of what is going on around them.
