Ela Yasa is a Foothill junior, a third-year journalist and Web Editor for the Foothill Dragon Press. As she was one of the first two freshmen admitted into journalism, she has maintained her position in News since her induction into high school, all while balancing her pursuit into high level classes, including being in the BioScience Academy. Despite the hard work, she is excited to be a Web Editor as she believes it to be an important component to the the Dragon Press. Ela joined journalism to shed light upon truth within the world, as well as share the voices of others and communicate to the student body. However, she has a deep passion for science and wants to work in the medical field to help others remain healthy and seek advancements to better the world. When she has free time, Ela enjoys spending time with her friends, playing video games and volunteering. She is also a frequent intercontinental flyer, and likes to travel every year. In addition, Ela has played piano for seven years, participating in many competitions including the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic Concerto Competition. She achieved her Certificate of Merit: Level 10 in ninth grade. Ela is originally from Turkey, as she was born in Istanbul and moved to America during the end of the fourth grade when she already possessed an American citizenship. Since then, she has matured to be amiable and confident in her abilities, with hopes to finish her high school carrier with high grades and the possibility of becoming valedictorian, all while having a fun experience to remember.
