The rising cookie shop, Crumbl Cookies is known for their delicious sweets which fans can’t get enough of. Garnering much popularity over TikTok, many love their treats, and others find the price unworthy of the taste. This begs the question, is it worth the cost or extremely overrated?
Crumbl Cookies has become extremely popular, crowding people’s social media over the past years with their unique and delicious desserts. Every week, they bring new treats which customers eagerly rush over to experience the sweet, sugary and decadent adventure. For the week of Aug. 26, 2024, to Aug. 31, 2024, they showcased everything from bright fruit flavors to rich s’mores and even a new pumpkin cookie inspired by fall flavors. We decided it was time to give it a try and while the cookies exceeded some expectations, they sadly fell short on others.
Pumpkin Square:
This dessert is a cake-like cinnamon pumpkin square topped with vanilla cream cheese frosting and a sprinkle of spice.
Emmanuel: I found this particular item one of my top favorites on the menu since the cake was fluffy, decadent and moist with a wonderfully warm and comforting fall flavor. The frosting was sweet yet tangy from the cream cheese and bursting with flavor from the spices on top. Overall, this cake was a pleasing harmony of flavors. 8.5/10
Lyla: This pumpkin square wasn’t like any of the cookies I had had there before. You were greeted with a smooth vanilla warm frosting that started your experience off with a bite of sweetness then with flakes of cinnamon topped off then you entered the pumpkin layer. It was soft and soothing to eat. This pumpkin square met my expectations with its range of flavors and a fall-like feel to it. Overall, this pumpkin square was excellent and would definitely go back for more. 8/10
S’mores Brownie:
This cookie provides s’mores flavors including chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallow with a brownie cookie twist.
Emmanuel: I am a huge fan of s’mores so when I heard about this cookie I was extremely excited, however it did not impress me much. The dessert was chewy and crispy with a beautifully toasted marshmallow, however, I was a little underwhelmed for it lacked the s’mores flavor. I felt it tasted just like a brownie and cookie, so while it was a terrific chocolate dessert, the label was misleading. 7/10
Lyla: I am not a big fan of s’mores but the different chunks of chocolate chips and the graham cracker cookie with the melted marshmallow placed on top was hard to resist. However, looks can deceive. The cookie didn’t taste so much like s’more it tasted more like a plain chocolate chip cookie. I felt like the flavor was lacking, though I thoroughly enjoyed the crispness. The texture was divine. Although this cookie did not taste as good as I was hoping it would, it definitely wasn’t a bad cookie, just not my favorite. 7/10
Peanut Butter Blossom:
This peanut butter cookie is rolled in sugar and garnished with a fudge frosting dollop.
Emmanuel: This cookie pleasantly surprised me. The texture was crispy on the outside, coated with sugar but so soft in the middle, bursting with a peanut flavor. The subtle chocolate frosting on the top added the perfect balance to cut through the nutty undertones. That being said, I feel it could have been a little lighter for it was extremely heavy and needed to be paired with milk. 8/10
Lyla: I am not the biggest fan of peanut butter cookies so this from the start is not my favorite. Although I don’t like peanut butter cookies, this cookie surprised me in a good way. It was soft and crumbly on the inside and crispy on the outside. If you are a peanut butter lover, this cookie is for you. It checks all the boxes for the perfect peanut butter cookie. 8/10
Iced Oatmeal:
This oatmeal cookie contains notes of cinnamon, covered in a cream cheese vanilla glaze.
Emmanuel: I was not a huge fan of this particular treat because the glaze was so sweet that I could barely focus on the cookie part. I wasn’t a huge fan of the oatmeal taste and the glaze was a satisfyingly smooth texture, but completely overpowered everything, making it feel like I was eating pure sugar. 6.5/10
Lyla: When first seeing this cookie I was expecting it to be a gooey topping with a dry crumble inside. Before trying this cookie I have always had low expectations of oatmeal cookies in general. Bite after bite I was very surprised to find myself thoroughly enjoying this oatmeal cookie. This cookie’s glaze on top was the perfect sprinkle of sweetness to make a boring oatmeal cookie turn into a spectacular variety of flavors. 8/10
Berries & Cream:
This cookie has a berry base with whipped cream and blueberry topping.
Emmanuel: I would have to say this is my least favorite cookie from the box. The cookie itself was disturbingly wet, tasting a bit like yogurt and the cool whip only enhanced that texture. It was not very sweet and while the berry compote on top was the best part, it wasn’t enough to distract from the strange textures and displeasing taste. 4/10
Lyla: This cookie was not my favorite. The inside of the cookie was a little too cold and wet. I did thoroughly enjoy the berry-based topping with the Cool Whip, it added a soft and sweet texture to the cookie. The cookie was okay, but it did not satisfy my expectations. 5/10
Milk Chocolate Chip:
This classic fan favorite is a cookie batter with milk chocolate chips mixed into the dough.
Emmanuel: I was really excited for this cookie because I absolutely love plain chocolate chip cookies, however, I was slightly disappointed with the results. The cookie was soft and chewy with the chocolate chips to break up the smooth textures, but it almost tasted under-baked and was too sweet for my palette. While it was flavorful, I would probably choose homemade ones over these anytime. 5/10
Lyla: This chocolate chip cookie by far wins my heart. Every time I take a bite out of this delicious, perfectly chunky chocolate chip cookie, I am hooked and want more. This cookie offers a soft cookie dough but is then balanced out with a sweet bitter sensation of chocolate chunks. When taking a bite of this cookie your mouth is welcomed with a warmness and a crispy top. When you bite into the cookie it turns into a chewy texture. In this cookie, you have a perfect mix of both worlds. Overall, I obviously love this cookie and am always excited to have this cookie on the menu every week. 10/10
As we reviewed Crumbl Cookies, we were pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of flavors that overtook our taste buds. That being said, we also felt that while Crumbl made some spectacular cookies, others fell short of our high expectations. Overall, their desserts were divine with a new and exciting taste in every bite, however, we could have kept the money for some.
