After earning second place in their league, Foothill boys’ volleyball traveled to Rio Mesa High School for the first round of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Division III playoffs. Tuesday’s game was “very fun, yet tough,” according to co-captain Dylan More ‘18, and ultimately ended the Dragons’ season in three sets, with scores of 25-12, 25-11 and 25-13.
More believes the team struggled in the beginning, however “we started to play up to Rio Mesa’s level during the second and third sets,” he said.
This struggle was mainly due to the team’s uneasiness about the game. It led them to “not perform our best,” More said.
“I think that most of us were nervous because it was the playoffs and they were a bigger team than us,” he said.
Despite this, “throughout the match we held our heads high.”
Though this game was rougher, the season as a whole was “a blast,” as More put it.
“As a team this year, we have become more cohesive and have figured out how to work together,” he said. “Each and every one of us improved and contributed to the team.”
If the team can keep improving like they did this season, he believes that “next year we will be unstoppable.”
