What high school campus would be complete without a male beauty pageant? Worry not, the freshmen class has announced a new opportunity for the men of Foothill, a March 18 fundraiser called Mr. Foothill to be held from 7-9:30 p.m. in Spirito Hall.
Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors will strut their stuff at Spirito Hall to win a prize. The men will compete in rounds including an opening dance, both formal and beach wear fashion shows, a talent competition, baby videos, a question and answer session, and a dash for cash, all leading up to the final crowning of Mister Foothill.
“I like to perform and show my talent, I love to benefit my school,” said sophomore K.J. King, who is planning to enter the competition.
At the signups today during FIRE period, laughter echoed in D-108 as the future contestants discussed what they would do for the various rounds
“I just want to throw down some dunks” said senior basketball player Roger Reyes speaking of the talent portion.
Contestants are being encouraged to sing, break dance, juggle or even try standup. The only possible requirement is that they may have to sell ten tickets for entry.
Competitors will receive a crown and a half to full-page in the yearbook. But ultimately the biggest prize is knowing that they are indeed Mister Foothill, according to freshman advisor and math instructor Anthony Villa.
“It’s really campy… a counter Miss America,” he said.
If you want to see Foothill history firsthand tickets are $5 presale and $7 dollars at the door, available in a few weeks at the Student Store.
“It seems fun, like something that hasn’t been done before,” said senior Tyler Nicholson.
