In the evening of April 10, 2025, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) Dragons traveled to Carpinteria, Calif. to face off against the Cate School (Cate) Rams. After losing 1-3 the last time these two teams matched up, the Dragons were determined to win. After three intense sets, Foothill Tech swept Cate and emerged victorious, 3-0.

Following a narrow loss to Ventura High School, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys volleyball team was fired up and ready to face Dunn School (Dunn) on April 1, 2025. Through their teamwork and strong offense, they emerged victorious, 3-0. As his teammates watch from the bench, Elijah Haigh '25 (number 15) gets ready to serve the ball to the other side, to hopefully get yet another ace. On the evening of March 21, 2025, Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys volleyball took on the Ventura High School (Ventura) volleyball team at Cabrillo Middle School. Despite a rocky start, ending in a Foothill Tech loss for the first set, the team came back strong, winning the second and third set. Despite this comeback, the Foothill Tech boys' team ultimately fell short, losing in the last two sets to Ventura. Foothill Tech performed well, displaying powerful hitting, skilled defensive plays and several well timed blocks. Foothill Tech falls short in five-set thriller against Ventura
On Feb. 25, 2025, Foothill Technology (Foothill Tech) boys volleyball faced off against Cate School (Cate). Taking place at Cabrillo Middle School, Foothill Tech's own terrain, the match began at 6 p.m. Unfortunately, this second home game of the season ended in a 3-1 loss. Foothill Tech secured the first set, yet fell to Cate in the last three. In the image above, the team gathers in a tight huddle during a timeout, strategizing for the following sets. Coach Dave Benedik urges the team to communicate more efficiently, as many lost points were attributed to a lack of communication on passes and set balls. The team listens intently, hoping to garner more points as they return to their positions on the court.
Boys volleyball takes a loss in their second home game of the season
Curren Wiggins '26 (number 13) and Elijah Haigh '25 (number 15) leap to block a spike from Bishop Diego High School (Bishop Diego) during their volleyball match. Despite the block, Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) couldn’t secure a win, losing 0-3. The team played with heart and intensity, refusing to back down. While Bishop Diego's offense triumphed, Foothill Tech’s defense showed resilience and determination throughout the game.

Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) places fifth in the Tri-Valley league with a record of 1-5 and an overall record of 5-14-2. Although they didn’t make it to California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) playoffs, the team still finished the season strong with a 3-1 win against Ventura High School (Ventura).

On the warm sunny day of April 9, 2025 Foothill Technology high school's (Foothill Tech) Associated Student Body (ASB) hosted their annual Seniors Only Academic Rally (SOAR). A Minecraft movie. A new take on an old game. This movie had many jokes and surprising turns that led to a great feel and watch. This movie features Jack Black as Steve, Jason Momoa as Garett, Emma Myers as Natalie, Sebastian Eugene Hansen as Henry and Danielle Brooks as Dawn. This action adventure movie received a rating of 46% on rotten tomatoes and a 6/10 on IMDb. The true interest that surrounded this movie was the online hype. Many clips from opening day were released showing people yelling quotes from the movie, ¨chicken jockey¨. ¨flint and steel¨, ¨I am Steve¨, and throwing popcorn as well. The excitement was tangible.

In San Diego Calif., off the coast of La Jolla, many sea lions are seen lying on the beach. Normally, one would look at these animals and think they're just sleeping or resting. However, after taking a closer look, it was clear to see that the behavior of these sea lions were anything but normal. Many were swaying, hyperventilating and even becoming violent. As a result, residents and tourists have needed to call animal control and marine-life services on their trip to the beach.

Boys tennis triumphs against cross-town rivals
In mid-March, Makenna Koffee Company opened their latest store on 4960 Telephone Rd. Open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., this rare jewel of a cafe offers many unique and delicious drinks. Their unique Maui Milk, a creamy and incredibly sweet milk that is added to most drinks sets Makenna apart from many other coffee companies.

On the afternoon of March 20, 2025, the Ventura Aquatic Center became home to the Ventura County Swimming Championships. The event started on March 18, 2025, with the girls qualifiers, followed by the boys qualifiers on March 19, 2025. This annual event hosts over ten schools in the county every year, making the competition fierce. Seen above is Kylan Jaeger, holding the edge of his diving block in preparation for his heat to begin. Jaeger, along with many other Foothill Tech swimmers, performed well, earning various accolades throughout the meet.

On March 8, 2025, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys' baseball team played a tough match against the Trinity Classical Academy (Trinity) team. Though they ended up losing 6-1, the Foothill Tech team remained competitive throughout the game, showing strong teamwork and resilience.

On March 1, 2025, Foothill Technology Highschool (Foothill Tech) faced off versus Saint Monica Preparatory (St. Monica) in their first home game of the season. Shane White grips (number 10) his bat and digs into the left batters box in hopes of getting on base and extending their lead. After a strong game, the Dragons swept the competition 4-0.
