On Feb. 27, 2025, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) quad was full of color and childlike wonder as the Associated Student Body (ASB) hosted the annual Senior Recess for the class of 2025, allowing them to relive their fondest childhood memories one last time before they graduate.
From 5 to 7 p.m. the seniors were welcome to take part in the event by either playing classic childhood games like four-square, cornhole and soccer or making friendship bracelets and coloring on tables while chatting with friends. An inflatable jolly jumper was also located in the back of the quad where bubbles were available, being blown into the wind as seniors shared the amenities.
ASB also provided tables adorned with childhood, sugar-filled snacks and sweets such as Goldfish, Fruit by the Foot, Gushers and cookies with buckets of Capri Suns set out as refreshments. The snacks were also served with an In-n-Out meal, leaving students to enjoy their spread of nostalgic snacks while spending time with friends.
ASB, led by Senior Class President Hailey Hall ‘25, planned the event out to cater to the reminiscent factor of childhood, and the activities and food came in handy with the amount of turnout from the seniors.
Hall said, “There’s some [ASB] events where … you’re on the fence about it because you don’t know how the students are going to react to it, but then in the end when it all works out it can be extremely surprising, which is really amazing.”
For some seniors, the things they will miss about high school most is the time spent with friends. Lauwrence Tuy ‘25 expressed this, stating, “I think I will miss the community that I grew up with … I’ll miss all my friends and all the people I didn’t really get to know.”

Though his friends will be missed, Tuy also expresses ambition for his newfound independence after high school, stating, “I’m most excited about, probably [getting] to live by myself and be a little more independent. I’m gonna miss my parents a lot and my brother … but I get time to myself.”
As Senior Recess is one of the last events Dragons get to experience in high school, it can spark mixed emotions. Maxwell Fielder ‘25 shared, “I’m not in a sad mood at all, but it’s definitely pretty weird seeing where I’ve come from freshman year now to senior year.”
As the sun set on Foothill Tech, the class of 2025 began to dwindle out of the last recess of their educational career before moving on. As the end of the third quarter approaches, seniors have just a few short months before graduation, leaving time to focus on goals and the next steps after high school.
