Cajé Coffee Roasters (Cajé) is the most recent addition to Ventura, Calif.’s extensive list of coffee shops. Cajé, opened in the summer of 2024, sits on the corner of downtown at 71 N. Palm Street, and is a perfect place to get breakfast, lunch or a drink to start your day. Cajé is the ultimate coffee shop for any occasion with its variety of food and drinks, from acai bowls and bagels to coffee and tea.
The Vanilla Latte, without a question, is for coffee lovers. The first taste of this drink is coffee-dominant and bitter, but after the first taste, there is a light vanilla flavor. This drink was not for me because of the prominent coffee taste and bitter aftertaste with only light hints of sweet vanilla. I wouldn’t say I liked this, but for a strong coffee lover, this would be the perfect drink.
Vanilla Latte: 5/10
Next, the Works Bagel was my favorite out of the three items due to both the flavor and presentation. Inside is avocado, tomato, red onion, lemon pepper and cream cheese, this combo creating the perfect breakfast food. This treat blew me away with how the ingredients tasted together. The one thing that threw me off was the red onions, which had a very strong flavor. Other than for those who don’t like onions, this is perfect for someone looking for a hearty breakfast.
Works Bagel: 9/10
Finally, the P. Nutty Acai Bowl was mouth-watering with an extensive variety of fruit and granola. This bowl was different from most because of the peanut butter and berries it contained. While eating it, the bowl reminded me of a delicious an ice cream sundae with peanut butter. Overall, this bowl is the perfect sweet treat for any day with amazing flavors, yet not unhealthy.
P. Nutty Bowl: 8.5/10
Cajé is one of the best places to stop by at any point in the day, even if it’s just to get a small snack. Its location just off of Main Street makes it a convenient and popular spot for both locals and visitors exploring downtown Ventura. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty breakfast, a quick snack or a caffeine boost, this cafe offers a little something for everyone.
